When is repatriation needed?

Repatriation makes sense when the funeral is to take place in the home country of the deceased or close to the family.

02

Important documents

Usually required: international death certificate, international transit permit, medical certificate on the cause of death, consular approval and, where applicable, a casket certificate.

03

Authorities involved

Embassies and consulates, local authorities, cemetery or crematorium administration at destination, customs where applicable. We handle coordination and language.

04

Process in brief

Inquiry – clarification – document review – consular conversation – placement in casket – transport – handover – funeral.

05

Timeframe

Within Europe often a few days once all documents are available. Outside Europe longer.

06

Costs

Transport, document and consular fees, casket and any storage. We provide a transparent overview in advance.
