1. Medical confirmation of death
If a person dies at home, a doctor is called first. The doctor confirms the death and issues the death certificate. In hospitals or care homes, staff handle this step.
2. Take time
You do not need to rush. Take time to say goodbye before further steps begin.
3. Contact the funeral director
Once the medical confirmation is available, you can contact us. We are available 24 hours a day and will calmly discuss the next steps.
4. Gather documents
Helpful: the deceased's ID, birth certificate, family record or marriage certificate, if applicable the spouse's death certificate, insurance documents and any advance directives.
5. Registry office and death certificate
The death certificate is issued by the registry office at the place of death. On request, we take over the application.
6. Inform relatives
Inform close relatives and friends. If you wish, we support you with obituary letters and notices.
7. Organise funeral or transfer
Together, we discuss the type of funeral, the location and – if necessary – a transfer. We take care of authorities and formalities.
