Legal framework
The Bavarian Funeral Act (BestG) and ordinance set out notification duties, deadlines, transport and cemetery obligation for both caskets and urns.
Deadlines
Burials should usually take place within 96 hours of confirmation of death, cremations within seven days. Extensions are possible in justified cases.
Cemetery obligation
In Bavaria, caskets and urns must be interred at approved cemeteries or in designated burial forests. Private storage of urns is not allowed.
Registry & certificate
The death is registered at the registry office at the place of death. On request we handle notification, certificate request and coordination with your municipality.
